The Wandering Life, right in front of her, swung its sword down mercilessly at Mary. A distance that would be too late for an ordinary warrior.
But Mary's sword decapitated her enemy faster than the attack reached her.
Mary	"Sorry, I was just thinking about something."
Yuuzen	"......"
Mary	"I'm fine. I'll set myself straight from here on."
Mary sheathed her sword and lightly slapped her cheeks with both hands as if to wake up.
Yuuzen	"Mary, this isn't like ya."
Yuuzen	"Ya're not travelling by yerself anymore, ya have to be more firm. Otherwise, everybody's life is at stake."
Mary	"It's appalling coming from a former Knight Commander. I'm sorry for my unworthiness."
Yuuzen	"...No, I'm sorry too. This is my fault, I knew ya were acting strange but I was only sitting back and watching."
Miyako	"Were you thinking about the identity of that girl, by any chance?"
Mary	"No, I don't have any idea who she is. I have little thoughts of her."
Miyako	"Then what on earth were you thinking about?"
Yuuzen	"Miyako, ya need to sew yer mouth a little."
Miyako	"We have to be clear about this, Yuuzen-san. It's a matter of life and death for us."
Miyako	"Mary-san, why couldn't you share the information with us? Are you saying you don't trust us that much?"
Mary	"It's not that. It's just..."
Miyako	"It's not like you to be vague. You always stand your ground and show composure."
Yuuzen	"Miyako, I already told ya to shut up."
Miyako	"...I'm sorry."
Yuuzen	"Sigh, all of ya... need to take a break. Let's rest, shall we?"
Yuuzen suggested this to the suffocating scene. It was certainly necessary in order to break out of this unbearable siege.
And thus we decided to take a short break in the hall.
The tea Yuuzen had brewed for us moistened our throats, and we took a short rest. Just this little moment made the situation feel a little more relaxed.
Mary drank the last of it in one gulp and disappeared into the back to take a look around. But I guess that's rest for her too. Yuuzen watched her back without saying a word.
Yuuzen	"Miyako, yer hair is very messed up. Come over here and sit down beside me."
Miyako	"Yuuzen-san...?"
Yuuzen	"Turn around - yes. Oh, ya're ruining yer beautiful hair. Ya should take a bit more care of yer hair."
Yuuzen gently straightened out Miyako's hair and carefully combed it.
Yuuzen	"Sigh, humans are complicated creatures."
Yuuzen	"I don't know what they're thinking. Even if ya ask them, they don't always tell ya. Sometimes, it's considered a virtue to be discreet."
Miyako	"Why is that? Why can't every person just say what they think clearly?"
Yuuzen	"Hah, it's not easy. Very few humans are as honest as dolls."
Miyako	"How did you learn to understand, Yuuzen-san? Can I be the same way?"
Yuuzen	"I can't understand everything about other humans either. In fact, there are probably more things I don't understand. But I try to think about it."
Yuuzen	"Why do they keep it a secret, why do they look at me with frightened eyes? Maybe it's because of some reason? That's how I search for my own answers, even if they don't tell me said answers."

Miyako	"I see... I didn't thought about that."
Yuuzen	"It can't be helped. Since she became a knight, Mary had to live to be seen as a perfect individual."
Yuuzen	"Well, it's done."
Yuuzen stood Miyako up after she finished brushing her hair. She nodded in satisfaction and patted her on the back to cheer her up.
Yuuzen	"Let us at least try to get to know each other. Learn what kind of a person Mary is."
Yuuzen	"That's what friends are for."
