Blue Rose, Mary's predecessor knight commander of the Order, was spotted in the restricted area where large-scale Phantom Mist manifested. The Special Steel Squad was then hastily set out to investigate with a small number of elite personnel.
Our squad centered around Mary passed through the city of illusions and reached a village full of Wandering Lives. All of them were places that Mary remembered and that the Blue Rose Squad had visited in the past.
As for the girl who appeared for a brief moment. Mary did not seem to recognise her.
Miyako	"We are in a cave now."
Yuuzen	"Do you still recognise this place, Mary?"
Mary	"Ah..."
Mary	"How could I forget? This is where I led my first major punitive mission on behalf of Blue Rose."
Miyako	"If Mary is the acting Knight Commander, does that mean that the Blue Rose was not participating at this time?"
Yuuzen	"...Not sure. Let's follow Mary for now."
Mary	"If I turn left at the end of this road, I'll see a small hall... The stockpile of food is just as it was then."
Mary	"This is the cave where the people who managed to escape from the village that was devastated by the Phantom Mist ran into. They had been waiting here for help to come - supposedly."
Miyako	"What do you mean 'supposed'?"
Mary	"Most of the people had already perished by the time we got there, partly because we had to go around the river which was flooded by the rain."
Yuuzen	"No matter how strong Mary is, it inevitably takes time for her to receive an emergency call and rush to the scene. And in a village in a rural area where the Order is not stationed, it would have been very difficult."
Miyako	"There was no Mist Train at that time..."
Mary	"It was pure Hell. I remember there was a mountain of wreckage, the Mist Monsters were dancing around it."
Mary	"Of course we quickly destroyed the Mist Monsters in the caves and the village. We received great merits from our country... Even though we didn't save any of them."
Yuuzen	"There's always something ya can't control. Ya did what you had to do. Ya didn't do anything wrong."
Mary	"Well yes, us Knights won without causing any further damage. So I remember encouraging the distressed not to give up."
Yuuzen	"Better not to dwell on memories too much. But as long as ya're here, ya might not be able to. So why don't we just move on?"
Mary	"True, it's too chilling here."
Mary	"......"
With Mary in the lead, we continue on through the cave in silence for a while.
So why were we in a place where Blue Rose isn't? I thought we were just following her path.
Miyako	"...Yuuzen-san."
Yuuzen	"I see ya've noticed that too, Miyako."
Yuuzen and Miyako stopped and looked around. It seems that enemies were lurking in the area.
Mary	"I knew these illusions were all from my past...".
Miyako	"There's a few Wandering Lives approaching from the front."
Yuuzen	"They're approaching from the sides too. You'll handle the front one before we're surrounded, Mary."
Mary	"That's the only explanation I can come up with..."
Yuuzen	"MARY!"
By the time Mary looked up in surprise at Yuuzen's voice, a Wandering Life was right in front of her.
