After we're done with all the preparations, we once again went to the golden town where the scorpions were stirring. Nothing disappeared during our time we retreated a distance away to our Train, rather it seems that there's an increase in the number of glistening buildings and scorpions.
Story Alexandra.png
Alexandra
"It's like they're all ready to go too. Uuuugh~ I'm getting nervous. I wonder if I'll be able to do it well."
Story Puerto Rico.png
Puerto Rico
"Hmhmm... Don't worry no, I'm sure everything will be fine no. Because Alexi you are a very good girl and a hard worker, and love always wins in the end♪"
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"Enough with your abstract philosophy, I want sister to concentrate too no. Alexandra is the key to this operation, but first we need to set things up no."
Story Puerto Rico.png
Puerto Rico
"I know no~ Hmmm~ Perhaps, over there?"
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"Yes. I think so no. I trust my sister's wild intuition no, in fact you're still alive to this day because of your intuition."
Story Puerto Rico.png
Puerto Rico
"Yes. It's because Baby Aca and Neppy do the difficult things for me, that I can live so carefree and spontaneously no♪"
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"Sometimes I wish you can use your head too no... Yes, this is the place after all no."
Acapulco stretched out her gloved hand towards the scorching hot desert under the sun, and gave us the signal. Alexandra, still somewhat nervous, nodded emphatically, and raised the ancient weapon in her hand high in the air.
Story Monster.png
Small Scorpion
"Gigigigigigi!"
At the same time - perhaps having noticed us, a swarm of scorpions charged towards us furiously. This time, the giant scorpion was also slowly crawling in, crumbling the buildings around it.
Story Monster.png
Giant Scorpion
"GIGIGIGIGI! GIGIGIGIGIGIGIGIGI!"
The giant scorpion, perhaps dissatisfied with having letting us escaped earlier - Lunged forward, violently smashing everything into dust, as if taking it out on us.
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"Judging on the speed of the enemy's movement and its current distance from us, the timing of contact is assumed to be... Then with said opportunity, the most efficient way to do that is to use 'that' - Yeah, do it now no! Alexandra!"
Story Alexandra.png
Alexandra
"EH, YES! Don't tell me so suddenly, sorry I timed it a bit late!"
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"It's okay, small mistake no! Just hurry up, now!"
Story Alexandra.png
Alexandra
"Yeah...! I've got this, I'm a girl who can do it if I try!"
After some calculations, Acapulco ordered the signal, and Alexandra acted upon her command. Puerto Rico held up the treasure sword that she had just resupplied with plenty of water on the train with the intention of protecting them.
Story Puerto Rico.png
Puerto Rico
"I will never let the enemy get close to you, so please to proceed with your job smoothly no!"
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"Dear sister, give me some water."
Acapulco tiptoed and kissed Puerto Rico's sword, then drank the water and cleared her throat.
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"-- Phuah♪ No need to use my head anymore, I'm going to work out my muscles from here on out no. I've been doing a lot of desk work lately and I'm getting a bit rusty, so this will be good exercise for me no."
Story Puerto Rico.png
Puerto Rico
"Yeah. Then let's work hard together, as sisters in harmony - For us, and for the future of this country. For everyone's smiles, for peace, for love, let's be jellyfish as hard as we can today!"
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"Jellyfish......? Oh, you tried to say something like 'break a leg', sister? You're an idiot, you'll only embarrass yourself if you try to use a difficult idioms or something--"
Story Alexandra.png
Alexandra
"EEEEEIIII! MIX EM' UUUUUP!"
Alexandra completely ignored the voices of the sisters in their distracted conversation and dug into the ground with uncanny vigour. The ground is gouged out, and a large amount of earth and sand is sucked up by her weapon and instantly dissipated - Dust scattered in the air and spread out, like a metaphorically bad Phantom Mist.
Alexandra's relic weapon can can smash anything and everything and absorb an inexhaustible amounts of it. She can mix them together or eject them at will. In short - she can single-handedly carry out even large-scale civil engineering works.
In no time at all, Alexandra's diminutive body disappeared underground. She continued to dig deeper and deeper, blowing away the surrounding sand and making a large hole in the ground.
Breathing is a problem underground - but she has a special skill called 'Sand Swimming', which allowed her to move under sand and dirt without a hitch.
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"Hmm. Although she's a bit self-abased because of her upbringing, she's actually amazing no. She's a miracle - Alexandra can change the terrain single-handedly."
Story Puerto Rico.png
Puerto Rico
"I can split the sea too no~! Look look, miracles miracles♪"
Puerto Rico noisily sliced up approaching scorpions with her sword. The water absorbed in the blade gushed out from the tip of the sword, and like a hydraulic cutter, many enemies are cut off at the same time.
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"Hmph. I don't have flashy tricks like my dear sister. That's why I've studied seriously and I'm a genius, so I can do nearly everything with aplomb no."
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"And thus! In today's society, people like that are the strongest NO!"
Acapulco delivered a clean, textbook manner of a straight fist strike. The approaching scorpions had their external shells dented, and were knocked flying flourishly.
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"Hmhmm. If they come back to life no matter how many times you chop or shatter them up, then in this case - it's smarter to knock them far away like this no. If only to buy time."
Right at the moment Acapulco said this proudly, a huge column of water rose from the hole Alexandra was digging. It erupt high into the sky, just like a rain that pours down on the golden city - and on the scorpions.
Story Monster.png
Small Scorpion
"Gigigi!? Gigigigigi!?"
Immediately afterwards, the scorpions visibly slowed down. The sisters took advantage of this and attacked them one by one, and the enemies that were crumbled stay crumbled and no longer regenerated.
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"Hmhmm, just as I thought no♪"
Story Puerto Rico.png
Puerto Rico
"Umm. When it was explained to me on the train, I didn't understand any of it because it's too complex... Why can the scorpions be defeated this way no?"
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"To be precise, we haven't completely defeated them yet no. I want you to stay on your toes and destroy more and more scorpions no. And if possible, the golden buildings around them TOO--"
Acapulco made her point, and one after the other, she slammed her iron fists onto the scorpions around her. When those enemies crumble, they really never regenerated anymore.
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"I knew it. Thanks to the rehydration I just had, I'm finally getting my head around it no... Dear sister, do you know the legend of the Golden Land?"
Story Puerto Rico.png
Puerto Rico
"Uhm? You mentioned that name on the Train earlier? Uhmmm, where have I heard of it...?"
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"You're not sure then. There's a legend that it was one of a number of small and medium-sized states in ancient Flamarine, and that all the buildings were golden. But suddenly on one day, it seems to have disappeared overnight."
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"Due to it being a requirement for diplomacy and so on, I've become familiar with both local and undocumented Flamarinian history no. I study it every day, every day no."
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"I won't go into too much detail because we are still in the middle of a battle and I don't want to repeat the same explanations over and over again. It seems that in this Golden Land they developed their own 'sandy creatures' and used them for construction, defence and other purposes no."
Story Puerto Rico.png
Puerto Rico
"Sand... Aaaah, is that what you meant no?"
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"Yes. And - This is where the legendary ancient kingdom of the Golden Land was supposed to be no. We couldn't investigate it because it's in the middle of the desert, and we didn't know exactly where it was until now."
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"Perhaps this is the place no. And I think that the buildings and scorpions that grow around us are descendants of the sandy creatures that were used in this Golden Land no."
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"Such sandy creatures are said to gather together in groups and change their appearance to suit their rulers. For example, buildings for inhabitants to live in, or giant scorpions for defence."
Story Puerto Rico.png
Puerto Rico
"Ah, there are many such creatures in the sea. Sponges and small fish, for example, gather together and pretend to be big creatures to scare off larger enemies no."
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"That's right no. However, sandy creatures are just sand no. Maybe they can only operate in dry places - They're living creatures, so they're likely to breathe, and if they're in water, they'll drown no."
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"In short. If you get them wet and muddy, that slows them down at least no."
Story Puerto Rico.png
Puerto Rico
"Aaaah.... That's why the tail of the giant scorpion that was cut off by my treasure sword didn't regrow. So the sandy creatures accidentally got wet and drowned because water had spilled out of the treasure sword by accident?"
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"Hmhmm. Rather, it was when I saw it that I realised our enemy's true form no. My dear sister's stupidity is useful sometimes after all, no wait - you should admire my insight no♪"
Story Puerto Rico.png
Puerto Rico
"Yes! Of course no! Big sister me always praise Baby Aca so much no! Yes yes yeees, good girl, suuuuper good girl you are♪ My baby is the best no~☆
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"No, I want you to praise me in a more mature way no. I'm sick of you treating me like a baby, don't make me say it over and over again no...... I'm so sick of it."
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"Anyway. If you know your enemy and know yourself, you can fight a hundred battles without danger - Now that we know what our enemy is, all you have to do is exploit its weakness and defeat it no."
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"So. We, the Mermaid Blood sisters, have detected an underground water vein in the desert - and Alexandra dug it out for us no. That's what this mission was about originally."
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"Thanks to my great plan that can kill two birds with one stone, we were also able to defeat the enemy and complete the mission no♪"
Alexandra
"YAAAAAAAHHHH!?"
While assuming that the rest was just cleanup... The sisters who had been defeating the scorpions while bickering suddenly look up in surprise at the scream they heard. Ahead of their gaze - Still in a column of water was Alexandra writhing in agony.
Story Puerto Rico.png
Puerto Rico
"Aaah, oh no no! The water pressure blasted Alexy up no! If it keeps going like that, she'll be way too high - She's going to fall, hit the ground and be pancaked no!"
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"I-I'm coming to save you no, Alexandra!"
Perhaps not expecting this, Acapulco, her face pale, headed towards the water column in a panic.
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"I could swim inside the water column and get to Alexandra and rescue her... But that's no - I can't get there in time no!"
Story Alexandra.png
Alexandra
"Don't worry! I'm a Flamarinian girl too, I can swim on my own without being rescued!"
Whether she heard us at a reasonable distance, or whether she simply saw what we were doing and anticipated what we would say - Whatever it was, Alexandra laughed cheekily, as usual.
Story Alexandra.png
Alexandra
"More than that! Don't worry about me, watch out! The enemy is acting weird...!"
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"Eh, what?"
As Alexandra pointed out, while the sandy creatures were immobile because of moisture - Yet the ones who are still dry were being gathered in by the giant scorpion.
Story Monster.png
Giant Scorpion
"GIGIGIGIGI!"
The monster had grown even larger, and used the sand it gathered to regenerate its tail, now pointing it towards us. The tip of its tail swelled up very quickly--
Story Puerto Rico.png
Puerto Rico
"......! This is bad no!"
The giant scorpion detached the tip of its swollen tail - And ejected it at high speed towards us, like a cannonball! As it's a last-ditch attempt, it unleashed a long-ranged attack!
Story Acapulco.png
Acapulco
"...So, even after the people of the ancient kingdoms who used to serve them have perished or migrated somewhere else, the sandy creatures are still performing their duties with discipline."
Story Puerto Rico.png
Puerto Rico
"Yes. It's commendable no. As a descendant of Flamarinian royalty and nobility, I admire them from the bottom of my heart no. At the same time - I want to tell them that they don't have to work so hard anymore no."
Story Puerto Rico.png
Puerto Rico
"I will always remember them, even if they are not as smart as Baby Aca. Please don't worry anymore, may you rest in peace--"
Puerto Rico whispered mysteriously as she raised her treasure sword. Beside her, Acapulco also readied for combat.
The final battle began in this forgotten Golden Land.
