It's Annecy of M. Verforet. Annecy was formerly a keeper with the title 'Annecy of the Jewel Lake'. The locals sometimes call Annecy 'the Maiden of the Jewel Lake' instead. Well, that was a nice greeting from Annecy, wasn't it? Seigneur Conductor? If Annecy did well, please give her a headpat, okay?

Trivia

  • Annecy's birthday is the opening date of Gare d'Annecy in 1866.
  • Annecy's keeper of the lake theme, as well as her namesake, is based on Lake Annecy, nicknamed "The Jewel of the Alps" for its famously clean and beautiful waters.
  • Annecy's liking for arctic char is a reference to Annecy's flag and coat of arms, featuring an omble chevalier. Arctic char is a fish found and fished in Lake Annecy. However, the lake is too clean (oligotrophic) and their numbers are decreasing.
  • The game of French Tarot is a trick-taking strategy tarot card game played by three to five players using a traditional 78-card tarot deck. The game is the second most popular card game in France and is also played in French-speaking Canada.
  • The background of [Guided by the Jewel Lake], as well as the island she protects, is likely Ile des Cygnes, an artificial island on Lake Annecy.

Annecy station entrance.

Annecy station is a French railway station on the lines from Aix-les-Bains-Le Revard to Annemasse and from Annecy to Albertville, located in the city of Annecy, prefecture of the Haute-Savoie department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It is a passenger station of the Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français (SNCF), served by TGV, the L2 line of the Léman Express, the RER Franco-Valdo-Genevois, and the TER Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes trains.

The train station shack was opened on July 5, 1866, servicing the line between Aix-les-Bains and Annecy was put into service by the PLM. It was then extended from Annemasse to La Roche-sur-Foron, by the PLM on July 10, 1883. It was until August 25, 1981, when a new hybrid bus-train station was opened for Annecy. The creation of the multimodal hub of Annecy began in April 2011 by closing the bus station and the restaurant "L'Alizé". Bus parking is now dispersed around the station - the former drop-off point becomes "Gare Routière Sud", "Gare Routière Nord", and the Philibert bus terminal. The drop-off point is transferred to the other side of the rue de l'Industrie. The closed restaurant is replaced by a take-away service "Pains à la ligne" since June 2011, located next to the Vélonnecy service. The new bus station was commissioned on November 27, 2012, and the Pôle d'échanges multimodal opened to the public on December 4, 2012, and was opened on December 11. Final phase of the work ended in the spring of 2013 with the completion of the subway station.

Annecy station platform.

From 1981 to 2012, the station concourse (with most of the ticket vending machines, news stand and ticket offices) was located below the station, at the same level as the underpasses. It was therefore not necessary to cross it to reach the station platforms. Since 2012, with the creation of the new multimodal interchange, the station concourse is on the same level as the platforms. The platforms are separated from the street by simple barriers with four walkways. The station now has 5 tracks for the ascent and descent of passengers. Previously having only 2 platforms and 4 tracks, the station had an additional platform added in the 2002. Only one side of this new platform is used for services (the current track D). The station thus has three platforms. Platform 1 provides access to track A as well as to track S, a bumper track located at the western end of track A (towards Aix-les-Bains).

The Annecy train station is a multimodal hub with parking, bike parks, bus station with bus connections (including to ski resorts such as La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand) as well as to the main cities of the department, with several Sibra bus lines serving the station. The station also has two entrances and exits on each side of the tracks. Wikipedia

Lake Annecy.

Annecy is the prefecture and largest city of the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of Southeastern France. It lies on the northern tip of Lake Annecy, 35 kilometres (22 mi) south of Geneva, Switzerland. Nicknamed the "Pearl of French Alps" in Raoul Blanchard's monograph describing its location between lake and mountains, the city controls the northern entrance to the lake gorge. Due to a lack of available building land between the lake and the protected Semnoz mountain, its population has remained stagnant, around 50,000 inhabitants, since 1950.

Lake Annecy (French: Lac d'Annecy) is a perialpine lake in Haute-Savoie in France. It is named after the city of Annecy, which marks the start of the Thiou, Lake Annecy's outflow river. It is the third-largest lake in France, after the Lac du Bourget and Lac de Grand-Lieu, if the French part of Lake Geneva, which is shared between Switzerland and France, is excluded. It is known as "Europe's cleanest lake" because of strict environmental regulations introduced in the 1960s. It is a popular tourist destination known for its swimming and water sports. The lake was formed about 18,000 years ago, at the time the large alpine glaciers melted. It is fed by many small rivers from the surrounding mountains (Ire, Eau morte, Laudon, Bornette and Biolon) and a powerful underwater source, the Boubioz, at a 82-metre depth (269 ft). Lake Annecy belongs to the public river domain of the French State and the only island it includes, the Ile des Cygnes, is artificial and is located opposite Annecy. There is a bicycle path called the "Greenway of Lake Annecy", located on the western shore of the lake and managed by the SILA.

From the end of the 19th century, Annecy developed tourism around its lake summer facilities, winter resorts proximity and cultural attraction with its castle renovation and fine art museum opening in 1956 and the Animated Film Festival since 1963, hosted in Bonlieu's cultural centre. The municipal environmental policy managed to keep 40.3% of green spaces and the city and was awarded the "Golden Flower" in 2015, given to the nine most-flowered French cities. Its educational area is growing since the University of Savoy establishment in 1973. Wikipedia
