Once upon a time, in a mountain village in Nishiki, there was a forest called Jusatsu Forest.
It was said that a very strong curse was placed on the forest, and that one step into the forest would kill the person who stepped into it.
Anyone with a knowledge of sorcery would know the rumors to be true just by approaching the forest's entrance. Eerie voices, and the presence of vicious demons. They would clasp one by the heart and say "Come over here".
The villagers repeatedly warned travelers who were curious enough to go into the forest. But those who were confident in their sorceries would still try to approach Jusatsu Forest, exhorting that, "If there is such a monster, I will kill it".
ーーThose who did so would never be able to use sorcery again.
One day, a stranger girl who knew nothing about the Jusatsu Forest approached it.

The girl was not intimidated by the Jusatsu Forest's strange magical energy, nor by the dolls standing on the ground pointing toward the village.
???	"You shouldn't come this way. You'll be one most hated by the village too."
Girl	"Who are you? Do you live in this forest?"
???	"That's right. I haven't left this forest for a long time. Oka-san and I are both hated by the villagers."
???	"You're not under my oka-san's curse, huh? And you are not afraid of the dolls either. Are you a sorceress by any chance?"
Girl	"Mhm, I learn sorcery from my oshishou-sama. I'm traveling with my onee-sama, my sister apprentices, to train with them."
Girl	"When I grow up, I'm going to join the Nishiki army's sorcery team to defeat the Mist Monsters."

Yuuzen is the daughter of a puppeteer who lives in Jusatsu Forest. Yuuzen's mother was also called Yuuzen by the villagers.
The Yuuzen family is a family of puppeteers that has been around for a long time, however, there were many people in certain areas who hated the name Yuuzen.
Yuuzen	"Ka-san, listen to me. There was a girl who broke ka-san's spell and came into the forest. She said she would keep what she saw here a secret."
Yuuzen	"That girl is a sorcerer's apprentice. She must be a great sorceress. Even though she is so small, ka-san's warding didn't work on her."
Yuuzen	"Hey ka-san, do you think I... Can be friends with her?"
Yuuzen	"Eh...? Should I not see her anymore?"

Yuuzen	"I'm not lying... I really didn't do anything!"
This was the beginning of the tragedy in Jusatsu Forest.
That girl, who was a disciple of Koroshiya, was ordered to kill Yuuzen mother and daughter. Koroshiya used the girl as a tool to break Jusatsu Forest's sorcery and to cast a curse on Yuuzen mother and daughter.
Poor girl. Koroshiya's disciple lost her life because of the sorcery that Yuuzen's mother imbued into Yuuzen.
One should not use sorcery to curse others. When people curse each other with sorcery, there are naught but sad consequences...
