"ーーーー!!"
Story Detroit.png
Detroit
"Yes! It's a hit!"
Story Queensway.png
Queensway
"The proliferating Mist is clearing. This time we have definitely defeated the source."
Story Mistism Cult Leader.png
Mistism Cult Leader
"This is the power of the Divine Child of Iridescent Clouds. How dare you defeat my servant?"
Story Mistism Cult Leader.png
Mistism Cult Leader
"As I thought, he is not to be underestimated, he has the power to rival Ricardo Trevithick..."
Story Detroit.png
Detroit
"You're next. Prepare yourself, Mistism cultist."
Story Yakutsk.png
Yakutsk
"Undoubtedly. If ya think we're going to let you go like this, you're mistaken."
Story Yakutsk.png
Yakutsk
"What the Hell was that!?"
Story Queensway.png
Queensway
"It's rumbling violently. And I feel a kind of magic that's not really normal."
Story Vivienne.png
Vivienne
"Everyone! Look over there!"
Story Detroit.png
Detroit
"Oi oi, you're seriously..."
Story Queensway.png
Queensway
"The Steel Tree is glowing red..."
After a violent earthquake, there was a blinding light emanating from the Steel Tree.
It should be on the other side of the thorns, quite a distance away, but the red light emitted from the steel tree pierced through the thorn forest and shone brightly behind us, all the way to the hills and valleys of St. Iris.
This is not just any light. It is a red, bewitching glow... and was imbued with a magical power that made anyone nauseous.
Story Vivienne.png
Vivienne
"Ugh, I can't stand it... This is too much magic."
Story Yoshino.png
Yoshino
"Yoshino feels awful too. But this magic is not created by the Mist."
Story Vivienne.png
Vivienne
"Then what do you mean? I've never felt such evil magic power, not even inside the Giant Tree."
Conductor
ーーMist Core.
Story Vivienne.png
Vivienne
"Mist Core...?"
Story Putra.png
Putra
"Is the Mist Core the one used in the Mist Train's furnace?"
Conductor
"That's right. That's a gigantic Mist Core. I don't know why such a large Mist Core was lying dormant in that tree, but the Core is embedded in the heart of the trunk.
Conductor
I can't believe it. This is going much worse than I thought.
Story Mistism Cult Leader.png
Mistism Cult Leader
"Aaaah, wonderful. So it seems the Steel Tree's Mist Core is active..."
Story Mistism Cult Leader.png
Mistism Cult Leader
"A new era of the Children of Mist will soon begin. Very soon, the celebratory cannons will be fired from the Steel Throne."
Story Detroit.png
Detroit
"AH! DON'T YOU RUN AWAY YOU RAT!"
Story Queensway.png
Queensway
"Miss Detroit, leave her alone for now."
Story Queensway.png
Queensway
"Better yet, keep a close eye on that centre of light. It's going to be very bad."
Story Detroit.png
Detroit
"The center of light?"
Story Queensway.png
Queensway
"Everyone else, if you can, don't look away. Horrifying forces are being unleashed from within the Mist Core. A force far exceeding Sir Conductor's and Lady Islington's magical power is increasing rapidly in the centre of the Steel Tree."
Vivienne and Yoshino had been afflicted by the magical power and were paralyzed in place. Putra was protecting them and watching their backs and such were in no condition to see the 'centre of light' as Queensway had described it.
But, unusually, Queensway gave us all instructions. I didn't particularly stop her either.
This is because, at about the same time that Queensway sensed something unusual, I too sensed the powerful magic power amplifying in that Mist Core.
Story Queensway.png
Queensway
"O' Iridescent God, please save St. Iris."
ーーI will never forget the sight we saw on this day, in this place.
ーーA giant beam of light emitted from the Steel Tree itself.
The beam of light fired from a cannon formed inside the gigantic Mist Core, and instantly obliterated a large part of the northern mountains of St. Iris clean.
Story Putra.png
Putra
"...N-No..."
Story Vivienne.png
Vivienne
"...Impossible..."
Story Queensway.png
Queensway
"...H-how could this happen..."
Story Detroit.png
Detroit
"Paddington... Can you map the coordinates of where it blew up?"
Story Paddington.png
Paddington
"Yes... It's a rough estimate, but this is probably where it hit."
Story Detroit.png
Detroit
"......At least two villages."
Detroit voice was very feeble.
Story Yakutsk.png
Yakutsk
"Two... Villages...?"
Story Detroit.png
Detroit
"Yes, at least two. Even three or four..."
Story Paddington.png
Paddington
"There shouldn't be any more villages or settlements at those points..."
Story Detroit.png
Detroit
"There are villages that are uncharted on maps. Places where neither the Order of St. Iris nor the Allied Forces subdue."
Story Paddington.png
Paddington
"I'm sorry, I didn't know what I was saying..."
Story Detroit.png
Detroit
"The North is full of them families. They collect from rubbish, foraging what they can, and making food for tomorrow's meal."
Story Detroit.png
Detroit
"We were so close. We were so close to having the support of the Order..."
Story Yakutsk.png
Yakutsk
"Detroit, let's go home and report to Fayette."
Story Detroit.png
Detroit
"To Hell with the Out-Siders. Why are we always 'on top of everything'..."
Story Yakutsk.png
Yakutsk
"Yeah, I know. I don't get it."
Story Yakutsk.png
Yakutsk
"I'll report the same to Blackfriar. Islington too."
Story Detroit.png
Detroit
"...Shit, why do I always have to be there for the worst?"
Story Yakutsk.png
Yakutsk
"Detroit."
Story Detroit.png
Detroit
"WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR PROBLEM YAKUTSK!?"
Story Yakutsk.png
Yakutsk
"If we had retreated at that time, the Out-Siders forward post would have been destroyed. The Mistism cult could have established a stronghold inside the wards and the urban area of St. Iris would have been isolated in danger."
Story Yakutsk.png
Yakutsk
"We did our job. We cleared out the entire army of monsters that had been deployed over a wide area. This would not have been possible if we hadn't been able to hit the source."
Story Detroit.png
Detroit
"......"
Story Yakutsk.png
Yakutsk
"Ya know what I mean. That's why someday, if your men achieve the same, give them proper credit!"
Story Putra.png
Putra
"Yakutsk..."
Story Vivienne.png
Vivienne
"Yakutsk owes Detroit big time. She hasn't told her, but she said she'll never forget how she helped Bestyakh at Loren Citadel."
Story Putra.png
Putra
"I guess there are some things that only those who know the cruelty of a battlefield can understand."
Story Vivienne.png
Vivienne
"Let's leave Detroit to Yakutsk. As soon as we get back, we'll go there for rescue operations, and we'll have to check with Islington, Mary and the rest to see how the Order is going to react."
Story Putra.png
Putra
"Let's hurry. There must be people out there who need help."
Story Queensway.png
Queensway
"At least... two villages..."
Story Queensway.png
Queensway
"If the Knights were stationed there, they could save survivors immediately."
Story Queensway.png
Queensway
"...Don't think about anything else. I will just make sure I do what I have to do."
The Steel Tree immediately ceased its activity after firing a giant beam of light from its Mist Core that obliterated away one of the mountains, and hid itself among the dead tree trunks and rusted mechanical parts, covering the area with thick Mist and darkness again...
Story Youko.png
Youko
"Well well well, this is turning out to be interesting."
Story Youko.png
Youko
"That power is the power I seek. It's going to be a race to see who can get there the fastest."
Story Youko.png
Youko
"By the way, the Iron Injection art that woman used is really amazing. I wonder if I can do it too once I get the hang of it?"
Story Youko.png
Youko
"Ufufufufu. Next time I'll try it with a 'toy'♪"
