Trivia

  • Ayala's birthday is the opening date of the Ayala Station in 2000. The Ayala family (later Ayala Corporation) introduced the first tramcar service in the Philippines in 1888.
  • Ayala's liking for fish, boats, and the ocean references the very important fishery industry of the Philipines. The fisheries in the Philippines is one of the top fish producing countries in the world and makes a significant contribution to the national economy in terms of income and employment.
  • The outrigger ship in the background of [Spirited Pole-and-Line Fishing] is a pump boat, which can be seen everywhere in the Philippines. The silver-colored fish is the Bangus (milkfish in Tagalog), a common Filipino fish, while the red-colored fish is the Lapu Lapu (red grouper), a highly esteemed food fish in the Philippines.
  • The anchor that Ayala carries around while fitting with the marine theme, as well as her hat's logo, could be a reference to the anchor monument located near the Sto. Nino de Paz Greenbelt Chapel, an iconic landmark near Ayala Station.

Ayala station entrance.

Ayala station, also known as Ayala Center Station, is a station on the Manila Metro Rail Transit System Line 3. Ayala station is one of the two underground stations that can be found on the line, the other being the Buendia station. The station is located in Makati and is named so due to its proximity to two places bearing the Ayala name: Ayala Center and Ayala Avenue.

The station is the eleventh station for trains headed to Taft Avenue and the third station for trains headed to North Avenue. The most recognizable landmark near the station is Ayala Center, one of the most popular shopping centers in the Philippines. It is one of two stations that are considered within the Makati Central Business District (the other being Buendia). There are multiple stairs, escalators, and elevators for going in and out of the station. The station also has a shopping center within the station (similar to Shaw Boulevard station), with restaurants, shops, and facilities surrounding the concourse level of the station above the main platform.

Ayala station platform.

The station has an elevated walkway that connects it to SM Makati, which in turn is connected to Glorietta, Rustan's, The Landmark, Greenbelt, and the rest of the Ayala Center. It provides direct access to Ayala Center through the station's main entrance located beside SM Makati. The station is also the closest to adjacent Forbes Park, Dasmariñas, and Urdaneta villages, Apartment Ridge row, as well as Bonifacio Global City via McKinley Road, which were also developed by the Ayalas.

The Philippine Stock Exchange (formerly in Ayala Avenue but currently in Bonifacio Global City) along with the major financial headquarters of Bank of the Philippine Islands, China Bank, RCBC, HSBC Philippines, Citibank Philippines, and Standard Chartered Bank Philippines are all within the station's vicinity. The station is considered a major transportation hub, with multiple bus stops lying under the station. Passengers can board buses to and from destinations within Metro Manila, including through the EDSA Busway, and to the provinces beneath the station and beside McKinley Exchange Corporate Center. Greenbelt Chapel.

Greenbelt Chapel, also known as Chapel of Santo Niño de Paz, is located within the Ayala Center, Greenbelt Park in the Makati district of Metro Manila. It was constructed in 1977 and completed in 1983. Unlike the traditional Catholic churches, this one is open air, with a concrete dome and it resembles mostly a pavilion than a traditional church with thick enclosed walls. It has a roof built in the shape of a soldier's cap and a covered walkway leading to the center of the church from the entrance.

The construction of the chapel is funded by Atty. Nordy Diploma and Fanny Diploma after approval from the Ayala family, under the condition that nothing permanent would be built on the site, that anytime it was needed, the chapel can be removed. The design of the chapel is by the architect, Enrique Dizon and Topy Vasquez, his former staff who was at that time working for Architect Gabriel Formoso. Given the condition that the structure be temporary, the architects designed a steel-framed dome clad with staggered 6mm thick marine plywood (the Diplomas owned one of the largest plywood manufacturing companies at the time), waterproofing, and paint.

Contrary to popular belief, the Greenbelt Chapel is not made of thin shell concrete and was not designed by Ar. Leandro Locsin. According to Ar. Vasquez, the chapel was also designed so that in case the land owners decided to assert their right over the 'temporary' chapel's site, it can be lifted and moved by helicopter. They worked on the design together and Ar. Vasquez fondly recalls buying cheap plastic basketball from the local market to build scaled model studies of the church. Architrek
