I'm Futamata!♪ Mt. Ooe's mountain god Ooenomiya's disciple! And I'm a pop idol too! They call us the Ooe Big Four in my hometown. I'm good at fighting, but I'm even better at singing and dancing!♪ I mainly do shows at the public hall. My dream is to have a giant crowd of my fans gather on Mt. Ooe. Music, start!

Trivia

  • Futamata's birthday is the opening date of Futamata Station in 1988.
  • Futamata's beast motif is the Japanese Bobtail cat, a breed of domestic cat with an unusual bobtail more closely resembling the tail of a rabbit than that of other cats. The variety is native to Japan, though it is now found throughout the world.
  • Futamata is a member of the Ooe Big Four (大江山四天王) - the second generation elite train knights of Nishiki. Her role references the Shuten-dōji and Four Heavenly Kings (四天王). The other members are Amanohashidate, Karakawa, and Shimoamazu. Ooenomiya serves as the leader and guardian of the Ooe Big Four. All members of the Ooe Big Four have their counterpart train stations on the Kyoto Tantetsu Railway Miyafuku Line.
  • Futamata's pop idol theme references Japanese pop idol culture - a type of entertainer marketed for image, attractiveness, and personality in Japanese pop culture. Idols are primarily singers with training in acting, dancing, and modeling. Idols are commercialized through merchandise and endorsements by talent agencies, while maintaining a parasocial relationship with a financially loyal consumer fan base.
  • Futamata's likings for origami and Japanese paper art references the traditional Japanese washi paper featured in the Oe Washi Museum, situated just near the Futamata station in real life.
  • The oni mask in [Mt. Ooe's Idol] references the oni statue featured at the entrance of the Ooe Washi Museum.

Ooe Washi Museum.

Ooe Washi Museum is a Japanese paper-themed museum located in Futamata, Oecho, Fukuchiyama City, Kyoto Prefecture. It is within 3-minutes walking distance from Futamata station. The museum features the history of washi, a traditional Japanese paper. The term is used to describe paper that uses local fiber, processed by hand and made in the traditional manner. Washi is made using fibers from the inner bark of the gampi tree, the mitsumata shrub (Edgeworthia chrysantha), or the paper mulberry (kōzo) bush. As a Japanese craft, it is registered as a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage.

Washi paper was a traditional local industry in the former Oe Town. The museum exhibits include the manufacturing process, production method, craftsman's technique, etc. introduced to visitors. The museum also features a workshop where visitors can experience washi paper handrails. It involves a long and intricate process that is often undertaken in the cold weather of winter, as pure, cold running water is essential to the production of washi. Cold inhibits bacteria, preventing the decomposition of the fibres. Cold also makes the fibres contract, producing a crisp feel to the paper. It is traditionally the winter work of farmers, a task that supplemented a farmer's income. Wikipedia
